This is a project I did at The Wall Street Journal with Scott Austin and Chris Canipe. Our challenge with this interactive database was to make a visualization that told the story quickly and packed a punch, and at the same time provide readers with information about the companies so they would return again and again. The editors wanted 'something that will draw people in' so the visualization you see at the top (or here below if you are on mobile) arose from the tremendous pressure I felt to deliver develop something unique.
